Kevin l. nichols

Kevin L. Nichols is a technology executive, nonprofit leader, and serial entrepreneur with more than 25 years of experience advancing equity, innovation, and organizational growth. As Co-Founder, President, and CEO of The Social Engineering Project, Kevin bridges academic research with real-world implementation to expand access to STEM pathways for underrepresented youth.
Kevin’s professional background spans legal technology, diversity consulting, social networking, and startup advising. He currently serves as Board Chair of Flourish Agenda, Inc. and Family Wellness Group, Inc., and has completed executive education programs at Stanford Graduate School of Business, UC Berkeley Haas, Yale University, and JFK University’s Sanford Institute of Philanthropy.
When the original Science in the City grant concluded, Kevin secured early corporate support—most notably from Google—to sustain and scale the program, formally launching TSEP. His leadership continues to guide the organization’s evolution toward sustainability, community partnership, and long-term impact.
Dr. Bryan Brown

Professor and Vice Provost – TSEP Co-Founder

Dr. Bryan A. Brown is a nationally recognized scholar and educator whose work sits at the intersection of science education, equity, language, and identity. A former high school science teacher, Dr. Brown has dedicated his career to understanding how culturally relevant pedagogy transforms learning outcomes for students historically excluded from STEM.
Dr. Brown serves as the Kamalachari Professor of Science Education at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education and as Senior Vice Provost for the Stanford Provostial Fellows Program. His research explores how students’ cultural identities and language practices shape their engagement with science—insights that directly inform TSEP’s program design and instructional approach.
In 2012, Dr. Brown received a National Science Foundation grant that became the foundation for the Science in the City Summer STEM Camp, introducing underrepresented students to rigorous, affirming STEM learning at Stanford. His academic leadership ensures that TSEP’s programs are research-based, measurable, and transformative.
